Porcelain veneers can create a gorgeous smile by concealing dental flaws and changing the shape of the teeth. Dr. Dale Entrekin can attach thin pieces of porcelain to the front of your teeth, completely transforming the appearance of your smile. In addition to traditional porcelain veneers, Dr. Entrekin offers minimal-prep and composite veneers. At your consultation, he will help you select the right treatment for your cosmetic goals and budget. No matter which treatment you select, you will enjoy customized care and a stunning smile. What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Dr. Entrekin provides veneers made of the latest dental porcelain. This advanced material will closely match the color of your teeth, and it will provide a highly lifelike sparkle. Once in place, porcelain veneers can achieve a variety of cosmetic effects. Their functions include:
- Enhancing irregularly shaped or worn teeth
- Concealing severe intrinsic stains that do not respond to teeth whitening
- Hiding chips, tiny cracks, and similar blemishes
- Filling in small gaps in your smile
- Providing “instant orthodontics” by enhancing one or more slightly crooked teeth.
Porcelain veneers last 12 to 15 years. They typically cost about the same as porcelain crowns.
How Are Porcelain Veneers Applied?
After we determine that you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers, Dr. Entrekin will plan out your treatment. If desired, we can create a wax-up to show you what your smile will look like with veneers.
To perform the treatment itself, Dr. Entrekin will carefully remove a small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth. Your teeth and gums will be numb during this process, so you should only feel a mild sensation of pressure. However, if you are nervous about treatment, Dr. Entrekin can also provide nitrous oxide.
After the initial preparation of the teeth, we will take impressions of your teeth, and send them to a high quality dental lab. Typically, it takes about 10 days for the ceramists to craft your customized veneers. When they are finished, Dr. Entrekin will check the fit and affix the veneers to your teeth. After just two visits, you will enjoy a brilliant, sparkling smile.
Additional Treatment Options
Dr. Entrekin also offers alternatives to traditional veneers. Minimal-prep veneers are much thinner than traditional veneers. Therefore, we will need to remove little to no enamel from your teeth. These veneers are not suitable for all patients or cosmetic purposes. Dr. Entrekin will determine your candidacy at your pre-treatment consultation.
Composite veneers are made of a hard plastic material. Dr. Entrekin will choose the shade of composite that matches the color of your teeth. Then he will cover your tooth in this material, and he will sculpt it so that it masks surface blemishes. Finally, he will harden the composite with a curing light and polish the new façade of your tooth. Composite veneers typically cost about $250 per tooth, and they last five to seven years.
