CloSYS II Mouthwash and Toothpaste

Bad Breath (halitosis). We've all suffered from it at one time or another. Let's talk basics. 90% of all bad breath comes from the structures in your mouth. Oh yes, there are times foul breath can come from your lungs. Food products like garlic and alcohol can "blow off" through the lungs. In addition, certain diseases like colds and some medications effect the air passing from the lungs. How much is attributed to the stomach? Well, unless you belch a lot or have gastric reflux forget it.

University studies have shown that most bad breath is due to something called volatile sulfur compounds (VSC). VSC's are formed by the natural breakdown of bacteria and human cells. Common sources of VCS's include bacteria in plaque on the teeth and in that sticky stuff that sometimes forms on the tongue and cheeks especially at night. Another common source is bacterial seepage from infected gums.

Traditional mouthwashes don't treat this cause of bad breath. They only "cover-up" these compounds with a more pleasant smell leaving the VSC's to quickly create more bad breath. Developed by periodontists and university tested, CloSYS II Oral Rinse (formerly RetarDEX) is different. It's loaded with patented CloSYS II ® an active ingredient that has been proven to actually eliminate odor causing VSC's on contact. During a one minute rinse, CloSYS II chemically breaks down odor causing sulfides and destroys them. The result is fresh breath for up to five hours. So whether it's an important business meeting or a social outing, you can feel confident with CloSYS II Oral Rinse. This is the same mouthwash dispensed by "Breath Clinics" all over the country. When used with CloSYS II Toothpaste you'll get an unbeatable combination. For the most effective breath control we recommend using an efficient tongue cleaner in conjunction with CloSys II.

Remember, while CloSYS II Oral Rinse is an effective way to eliminate occasional bad breath it is no substitute for qualified professional treatment of the underlying cause.

Complete and Partial Dentures

Natural appearing dentures must take into consideration not only the proper arrangement of the teeth, but also the contours of natural tissue.  They should be contoured in such a manner that is self-cleaning and has the appearance of natural healthy tissue.

To achieve a natural look with full dentures, it is best to take into considerations the patients individual characteristics.  This is achieved through masculine or feminine tooth arrangement, proper lip support and determination of a pleasing smile line for proper facial contour.  The other key aspect in obtaining a natural looking denture is the type and shade of the denture teeth.

Depending on the situation, a removable partial denture may be prescribed.  Usually two or more teeth will have been lost and this type of restoration is designed o replace both the esthetics and the function of the lost teeth.  A partial denture is designed to be removed for cleaning, yet it must have a tight fit and good retention so that it's comfortable while you eat.

Partial dentures can usually be designed with conventional metal clasps or with hidden retentive devices so that the best esthetic results are obtained.  With hidden clasps, other people may never know that a partial denture is being worn.  In addition to the improved esthetics, the precision retention of the hidden clasps usually also improve the tightness of the fit.

We make every effort in this office to provide the best possible results with both full and partial dentures.  Of course, nothing can ever replace the "real" thing, but with modern technology and attention to detail, we often come pretty close.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Advances in dental materials sciences have given us a new approach to an old problem -- broken, strained, or discolored front teeth. In a relatively simple procedure, a composite resin or porcelain material is added directly to the roughened enamel surface of the tooth. Often no anesthetic is required. Bonding can be used to close gaps or spaces between teeth or to make crowded teeth appear straight. Cosmetic dentistry can have an impact on a person's smile that is like magic. Because of these beautiful results, the near instant results and the fact that often bonding can be achieved without anesthesia, bonding is one of the most enjoyable services we provide.

Types of tooth veneer procedures

There are two types of veneer procedures that can correct broken, discolored or misaligned teeth. There are advantages and disadvantages to each type procedure depending on your objectives and commitment to the processes.  One or the other may be more appropriate for you.

Composite Veneers (Bonding)

Composite (direct) veneers are usually performed in a single visit and often without anesthesia..  The procedure is an application of a very hard plastic material directly to your teeth. Bonding typically costs about $250 per tooth and lasts about 5-7 years.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain (indirect) veneers are a very thin porcelain covering that is custom made for each tooth.  These require two visits to fabricate, costs about the same as a porcelain crown and typically lasts 12-15 years.

The National Youth Sports Foundation estimates that over 5 million teeth will be knocked out during sporting events this year.  These oral traumas will happen to elementary, high school and college level athletes.  In fact dental injuries are the most common type of oralfacial injury sustained during participation in sports.  PLAYSAFE mouthguards are the recognized leader in oral protection and they are custom designed according to the sport.  PLAYSAFE mouthguards are custom laminated so they fit perfectly and do not interfere with mouth breathing or speaking, a competitive advantage.

SILENT NIGHT Anti-Snoring Device

While snorers often do not seem to suffer from snoring themselves (excluding Sleep Apnea Disorder), their spouse and children are often repeatedly disturbed during their sleep cycles.  Unfortunately, left untreated, snoring can produce tensions and even animosity among family members.  Today, however, thanks to extensive research and documented effectiveness, an affordable, custom made SILENT NIGHT snoring prevention device can be prescribed.
